Fuechi Lor is a second-generation American of Hmong heritage born and raised in the Fresno, CA area. Fuechi’s parents are first generation Hmong Americans who were Vietnam War refugees. Fuechi describes his family, including where he and his siblings went to school. He describes how his parents wanted him to play soccer to keep him off the streets and to go give him better opportunities. Fuechi describes the various soccer teams he was a part of from 5 years old to high school. Fuechi recalls watching Tornado as a kid in Minnesota, describing some of their years as the most dominant team in California in the 1990s. Fuechi describes the regular occurrence of fighting in Hmong soccer and the reasons behind it. He also describes the lack of a single coach or manager in Hmong soccer, and details how it is a collective effort usually involving retired players. Fuechi joins Tornado in 2007. In 2009 and 2010, Fuechi played with other teams, such as the Sacramento King United with his brother Kiatboom Lor. Fuechi rejoins Tornado in 2010. Tornado win in 2011.
